BEng (Hons) Software Engineering (Top-up)
Software engineering is a truly global activity that concerns building and maintaining software systems and other computer-based solutions. Your previous studies in software engineering or a similar computing-related specialism will have prepared you to undertake advanced studies in focused areas of software development and engineering. By studying for your BEng (Hons) Software Engineering (top-up) degree with us, you can build on your previous studies and enhance your knowledge and understanding of software engineering principles and practices while experiencing life at our supportive, student-focused, multicultural campus.
This course provides progression from NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing.
Students study three core units to achieve a total of 120 credits:
Undergraduate Project – 60 Credits
Agile Programming – 30 Credits
Enterprise Systems Development – 30 Credits
The programme has been designed collaboratively working with industrial partners to ensure that students study a comprehensive program of relevant industrial topics.

The syllabus has an emphasis on real world experience which is informed by the latest research and global practices.
Coursework throughout the course utilises realistic scenarios intended to prepare students for their career after university. This applies both to the technical areas studied, but also the output required from the student such as technical proposals or reports to management.
A large amount of the coursework undertaken by students on this course is project based and involves group working.
The ability to work successfully and productively in teams is an essential element of modern software engineering. It will enable students to develop skills such as advanced IT skills, analytical skills, communication, project management and organisation – all essential for the workplace.
Regardless of the industry students intend to pursue careers in, the BEng (Hons) Software Engineering top-up degree will provide graduates with the necessary skills to succeed. Full time: 1 year (2 semesters)
NCC Education Level 4 and Level 5 Diploma in Computing
Or HND Or UK RQF Level 5 qualification with 240 credits.
